Dormitory

As a campus that is based on Islamic teachings, UMY is committed to producing graduates who are not only superior in terms of science and technology, but also have insight and Islamic personality. For this reason, a student dormitory was held at the University Residence at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (hereinafter abbreviated as Unires). The existence of Unires began with the desire of  Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta to have a representative student dormitory for student development. The aim is to provide personal and Islamic guidance for UMY students. It turned out that the tit for tat, the desire was received by the government program that gave the Simple Rental Flats (RUSUNAWA) to private universities as a place of residence for students. UMY received three twin blocks of the Rusunawa design and technically changed to become a cross block with internal assistance funds. One building is placed to the north of the campus and two others to the south. Then the Rusunawa under the name Unires was inaugurated by the Minister of Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia on February 29, 2008. Unires were used since inaugurated with a trial program for one semester and only for female students. After that it was officially used for students of one building in the north and mahasiwi in two southern buildings. Every year Unires gives birth to around 300 students.
